A Non governmental Organisation under the auspices of the Save Humanity Advocacy Centre (SHAC) has raised alarm over plots by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their cohorts to blackmail the immediate past service chiefs. Recall that the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs is presenting screening former Service chiefs, Gen Abayomi Olonisakin (rtd), Lt Gen Tukur Buratai (retd.), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.), and Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas (retd.)who were recently nominated by President Mohammadu Buhari for Ambassadorial position. Addressing a news conference in Abuja,Comrade Ogbe Owoicho, Director, Foreign Affairs of SHAC condemned the action saying the intention of the proscribed group and their NGO members is to criminally malign the country’s former military heads and ultimately scuttle their imminent confirmation as ambassadors. The Group however called on the federal government not to treat the matter with kid gloves but initiate moves to unmasked those behind the petition. Reports in the media indicates that petition letters had been sent by IPOB and it’s affiliates to the embassies of the United States,United Kingdom, Australia,Israel, Norway and 26 other countries kicking against the nomination of the ex service chiefs as ambassadors.
