Nigeria Woos China On Covid-19 Vaccine
With the discovery and use of Covid-19 vaccine by some developed nations, the Nigerian Government is partnering with the Chinese Government to have access to the vaccine in order to mitigate the impact of the pandemic in the country. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama who disclosed this at a joint press conference in Abuja after a bilateral meeting with the Chinese delegation led by its Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi said the collaboration will help in curtailing the devastating impact of the second wave of the Corona Virus Pandemic. Mr. Onyeama while highlighting assistance Nigeria received from China during the outbreak of the pandemic said the memorandum of Understanding entered with the Chinese government to establish an inter-governmental committee to coordinate the partnership will help the country bounce back. The Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi assured that China will continue to support and work with Nigeria in order to strengthen the existing relationship. He however, explained that the visa ban imposed by the chinese government is not just on Nigerians but to every countries to curtail the spread of Covid-19. Nigeria-China diplomatic tie has been on for the past 50 years.
