The Forum of State Independent National Electoral Commission (FOSIECON )has described as unfortunate the alleged statement credited to the Akwa Ibom state Resident Electoral Commissioner Mike Igini refering to the body as an Organised Crime. Igini was alleged to have made the statement at a live political programme by a Lagos based television station. Addressing the media on the development, National Chairman of FOSIECON Alhaji Ibrahim Bako wondered while such insinuation would be credited to a body that is a creation of the 1999 Constitution. FOSIECON further used the opportunity to call for amendment of relevant session of the 1999 constitution especially as it affects it autonomy. They argued that the gesture will add value and credibility to the nation’s electoral process.
