Pending the outcome from the Nigerian Senate after his nomination for reappointment as Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by President Muhammadu Byuhari, Professor Mahmood Yakubu has handed the mantle of leadership to one of the National Commissioners on acting capacity. Professor Yakubu saddled the responsibility of the commission on retired Air Vice Marshall, Ahmed Mu’azu after his first five-year tenure ended. Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Professor Mahmood Yakubu said it will be inappropriate for him to remain in office beyond November 9 without confirmation by the Nigerian Senate and taking a fresh oath of office as provided by the law.
