It is that time of the year, Ministries, Department’s and Agencies appear before relevant committees of the National Assembly to defend their financial estimate for the year to come. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has always had it smooth in this process due to factors that are not unconnected to the reforms and innovations by its Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof Ishaq Oloyede that have impacted positively on the nation’s admission system. The session however was not a smooth ride for the JAMB delegation as the lawmakers took turns to ask relevant questions bordering on the discharge of its mandate as a regulator in the education sector.
Responding to some of the questions, JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede explained the motive for introducing the Central Admissions Processing system.(CAPS)
Oloyede further explained reasons for monetary deductions by the Board for establishment of mega city centres across the country.
He said the Board will continue to give priority to the welfare of its staff in the effective delivery of its mandate of ensuring a hitch free admission process in the country.
