Open and distance learning programme is a field of education that focuses on teaching methods and technology with the aim of delivering teaching, often on an individual basis to students who are not physically present in classrooms. In Nigeria, the emergence of distance learning education dates back to external examination organised by University of London, Cambridge and Oxford which provided opportunity for Nigerians wishing to acquire western education. However, the mode of education has fast developed over the years under a strong regulation by the National Universities Commission.
