Nigeria only recently has been in the eye of the storm following days of protest by its youth population against police brutality and harassment. The peaceful protest across major cities in the country however turned Sour with hoodlums taking advantage of the occasion to unleash mayhem in the society, a development responsible for loss of lives and destruction of properties worth billions of naira. Addressing a news conference in Abuja, rights group, Conference of Civil Society of Nigeria called on well meaning Nigerians to complement the efforts of the federal and state governments to douse the tension.
Lauding the courage of some state government in constituting panels of inquiry into cases of police brutality, convener of the group Adams Otakwu advocated need for the outcome of the exercise to be backed with action.
The group further expressed hope that ongoing investigation by security agencies will unravel the motive behind the Lekki shooting.
