Ahead of Saturdays October 19 Governorship election in Edo state, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called for a free, fair, credible, transparent, acceptable and violence-free poll. A signed statement by the council’s National Publicity Secretary, Agbo Major indicates the need for stakeholders in the electoral process to respect the will and mandate of the Edo people. The council called on the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to provide a level playing field for political parties and their candidates participating in the election and ensure the poll meets international standard bearing in mind that it is the first governorship election to be conducted under COVID-19 protocols. IPAC also urged eligible voters to comply with the Coronavirus guidelines including observing social distancing. While warning against rigging, violence, ballot snatching, falsification of results among other electoral fraud, the council further advised security agencies to be civil and professional in the discharge of their duties.
