Court Sentences Olisa Metuh To 7 Years Imprisonment. Former National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, chief Olisa Metuh has sentenced to 7 years imprisonment by an Abuja federal high court. Justice Okon Abang convicted and found the PDP chieftain guilty on all 7 counts charge including fraudulent receipt of 400 million naira from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasiki in November 2014 and use of the said sum for political activities and personal purpose. Metuh was also convicted for transacting with the sum of 2 million dollars without going through a financial institution which according to the court violated the anti money laundering law which pegs the maximum cash transactions for an individual outside a financial institution at 5 million naira. The court also mandated Metuh alongside his company Destra to pay a fine of 375 million naira and 25 Million naira respectively to the federal government. It further ordered the winding up of Metuhs company and its account forfeited to the federal government. The seven years sentence is expected to run concurrently. Metuh was dragged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on criminal charges bothering on money laundering and misappropriation of the sum of 400 million naira allegedly received from the office of the former National Security Adviser to president Goodluck Jonathan, Sambo Dasuki.
