The Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, has confirmed the appointment of Mallam Isiaka Abdulrazaq as Tafidan Yamman Zazzau, in recognition of his contributions to community development, philanthropy, peace building and the advancement of the Zazzau Emirate.
The confirmation was conveyed in a letter dated Wednesday, October 7, 2026 (27 Rabi’ul Thani, 1448 AH), issued by the Office of the Council Secretary of the Zazzau Emirate Council and signed by the Magatakardan Zazzau, Malam Yusuf Abubakar Hayat.
According to the council, the traditional title recognises Abdulrazaq’s dedication to promoting peace, supporting community development and contributing to the progress of the Zazzau Emirate, Kaduna State and Nigeria.
Abdulrazaq is a lawyer, finance professional and retired public servant with an extensive career in Nigeria’s public sector.
He served at the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), later known as the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), where he rose to the position of Executive Director, Finance and Accounts.
He subsequently joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), where he served until his retirement in 2019 as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), contributing his financial and managerial expertise to Nigeria’s energy sector.
Born in Zaria, Abdulrazaq attended Barewa College, one of Northern Nigeria’s oldest and most prominent educational institutions. His longstanding personal and family connections to the city reflect his enduring ties to the Zazzau Emirate and its people.
Beyond his professional career, he has been involved in philanthropic activities and community initiatives aimed at improving people’s welfare and supporting local development.
Abdulrazaq is the son of the late Alhaji A.G.F. Abdulrazaq, SAN, a distinguished legal practitioner who was also a former Tafidan Zazzau and received the traditional title in 1962.
The family has maintained longstanding ties to Zaria since the mid 1950s, building enduring relationships with the Zazzau Emirate and its traditional institution.
His appointment therefore marks a continuation of the family’s historical association with the Emirate and its contributions to the community.
The Emir of Zazzau and members of the Emirate Council congratulated Abdulrazaq on his appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to uphold the dignity of the title and discharge its responsibilities with integrity and dedication.
They also prayed for Allah’s guidance, wisdom and strength for the new title holder as he assumes the responsibilities associated with the position, expressing hope that his tenure would contribute to the continued progress of the Emirate and its people.
