The Federal Government has reaffirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, assuring students, parents and guardians that heightened security measures are in place for a safe and orderly return to school.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, gave the assurance on Friday, saying the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain a priority of the Federal Government.
Alausa said relevant security agencies had been duly informed of the resumption arrangements and were maintaining heightened vigilance around Federal Unity Colleges and their immediate environments.
According to him, the coordinated security measures are aimed at safeguarding students, staff and school communities as academic activities resume across the country.
The minister urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and proceed with preparations to ensure that their children and wards return to their respective colleges on Monday as scheduled.
He also directed school authorities to maintain close coordination with security agencies and other relevant authorities to facilitate a peaceful and secure resumption.
Alausa called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to work together to maintain a peaceful, supportive and secure learning environment, stressing that the safety of learners is a shared responsibility.
The Federal Ministry of Education said it would continue to monitor developments and take necessary measures, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure the smooth and safe resumption of academic activities in all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to providing Nigerian children with access to quality education in a safe and conducive learning environment, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
