BREAKING: Judge withdraws from Sowore’s suit As Miscreants Attack Peaceful Protest
Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja has withdrew from the fundamental rights enforcement suit instituted by the ‘RevolutionNow’ protests convener, Omoyele Sowore. The Suit by the Owner of Sahara Reporter online newspaper was seeking an order for his release from the custody of the Department of State Service. However, there has been no fresh charges against Omoyele Sowore since his rearrest in the premises of the Federal High Court Abuja by the operatives of the DSS on December 6 shortly after being released from the agency’s detention facility where he spent over months. Meanwhile, suspected miscreants attacked and disrupted a peaceful protest organised by a coalition of civil society groups over the continued detention of #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore. The activists were at the National Human Rights Commission in Maitama, Abuja, to present a letter to the chairman of the commission when they were attacked by the hoodlums. The attackers descended on one of the coalition leaders, Deji Adeyanju, as the other campaigners and journalists scampered for safety. Deji Adeyanju however, sustained some injuriesbas he was rescued from his assailants. He was later taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.
