Supreme Court Dismisses Atiku’s Appeal, Affirms Buhari’s Election.
It’s all over for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its flagbearer at the February 2019 Presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as the Supreme Court dismissed his petition against the outcome of the February 23rd presidential elections. The People’s Democratic Party and it’s candidate Atiku Abubakar had filed appeals challenging Buhari’s victory at the polls. However, the seven-man panel of the apex court, led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Mohammed, dismissed the appeal on the ground that it lacks merit. Justice Mohammed who disclosed that the appeal has been under the scrutiny of the panel for the past two weeks promised to make public the reasons for the court decision at a later date. Atiku and his party were challenging the September 11 judgment of the Justice Mohammed Garba-led Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, which affirmed Buhari as President.
