Nigeria’s Low Income Earners To Get 500,000 Housing Unit – Ahmed
Nigeria’s housing deficit now stands at about 22 million units and majority of that is in the urban areas. Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja top the chat. The Poor delivery of affordable housing over the last thirty years is, in part, attributable to lack of co-operation among various agencies tasked with the provision of housing in the country. To address this deficiency, the Nigerian Government is working towards the provision of five hundred thousand affordable homes for Low income earners. Inaugurating a board to drive the initiative, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed said the housing scheme will also provide about one point five million jobs for Nigerians.
