GOC 8 Division Visits Tidibale, Pledges Total Security for Resettled Residents

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander of Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Bemgba Paul Koughna, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to securing Tidibale community following the return of displaced residents.

This was contained in a statement signed by the acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 8 Division Nigerian Army, Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA News.

​During his first official assessment visit to the community in Isa Local Government Area, General Koughna assured locals that the military is dedicated to restoring normalcy and protecting lives and property. The visit follows reports that residents had previously fled the area due to threats from bandits.

​”Troops are now stationed in Tidibale to maintain a robust security presence,” General Koughna stated while addressing the community. “We remain vigilant and ready to respond swiftly to any emergencies. No area of this community will be left under the control of bandit groups.”

​The GOC emphasized that the deployment aims to allow residents to resume their daily socio-economic activities, particularly farming, without the fear of attacks. He further urged the community to support the military by staying alert and reporting suspicious activities promptly to security forces.

​Responding on behalf of the residents, the Sarkin Arewa, Alhaji Ibrahim, expressed gratitude for the GOC’s visit, noting that the military’s presence has renewed hope within the community. He pledged the residents’ cooperation in the ongoing efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.

​The visit began at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Isa, where the GOC received an operational briefing from Lieutenant Colonel Nasiru Mustapha, Commanding Officer of the 26 Battalion. The briefing detailed the current security landscape and the progress of ongoing operations in the sector.

​The Nigerian Army, through its 8 Division, continues to maintain that it will work closely with local stakeholders to ensure enduring stability across the Northwest region.
