Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have neutralized five terrorists and rescued three kidnapped civilians during a coordinated offensive in Borno State on Sunday.

The operation took place in the early hours of January 4, 2026, targeting a known terrorist crossing point along the Sojiri axis in the Konduga Local Government Area.

In a statement released by the Media Information Officer for the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the military confirmed that the encounter resulted in no casualties among the security forces.

The statement attributed the success of the mission to the precision and combat effectiveness of the joint troops.

Following the firelight, security forces recovered several items from the scene, including AK-47 rifles and other logistical materials.

The three rescued civilians, who had been held in captivity by the insurgents, were brought to safety during the clearance.

“The successful operation highlights OPHK’s sustained commitment to aggressive offensive actions against terrorist elements while prioritizing the protection of civilians,” the statement read.

Military officials noted that troop morale remains high as security forces continue to dominate the operational environment.

Operation HADIN KAI maintains its mandate to dismantle insurgent networks and restore long-term stability to the North East region through continued collaboration with local security stakeholders.
