The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has been honoured with the prestigious Award of Excellence in Capacity Building and Staff Welfare by the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN).

According to a statement issued by Kayode Adegoke, Head of the Corporate Communications Unit, the award conferred by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the ASCSNrecognises Coker-Odusote’s exceptional leadership, marked by strong dedication to staff development, welfare, and institutional reform. The DG was also recently recognised by the Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) with the Innovation Service Delivery Award for notable innovations and excellent service under her leadership.

Since assuming office, Engr. Coker-Odusote has driven a bold and inclusive 5-Point Agenda, with staff welfare and capacity building at its core. Key milestones under her tenure include the promotion of more than 3,000 staff members, implementation of a 25–30% salary increase approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and comprehensive training programmes for all staff. These include executive retreats, management workshops, and other initiatives aimed at strengthening institutional capacity.

In further alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the DG has overseen the distribution of more than 2,500 systems to boost National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment nationwide. She has also equipped strategic departments with modern computers and workstations to bring the Commission’s operations in line with global standards. Additional welfare initiatives include the introduction of free staff bus services, construction of a new staff car park, and facilitation of access to national food palliatives to ease economic pressures. These measures have significantly improved staff morale, productivity, and organisational harmony.

Coker-Odusote’s open door policy and proactive engagement with labour unions have strengthened collaboration and mutual respect within the Commission. The ASCSN described the award as a recognition of her “rare sincerity and sensitivity to the yearnings of workers,” applauding her for implementing policies that have enhanced productivity, improved working conditions, and deepened social dialogue.

The award underscores not only her past achievements but also a renewed commitment to advancing excellence in public service delivery.
