NELFUND Urges Tertiary Institutions To Expedite Student Verification For Timely Loan Disbursement.
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has called on tertiary institutions across the country to fast-track the verification and approval of student loan applications to avoid unnecessary delays in disbursement.
In a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND noted that many prospective beneficiaries have lodged complaints over delays in receiving their institutional fees and upkeep allowances due to pending verification by their schools — a critical step in the loan approval process.
“We urge all institutions to improve their turnaround time in verifying and approving successfully completed applications,” the statement read.
“Prioritising this process will ensure that eligible students receive their loans, including tuition and upkeep allowances, without undue delay.”
NELFUND emphasized that institutional cooperation is vital to ensuring the smooth rollout of the student loan scheme and supporting access to higher education for all qualified Nigerian students.
In a related development, NELFUND announced the relocation of its headquarters to a new permanent office in Abuja. Effective September 5, 2025, all official correspondence, visits, and inquiries should be directed to:
House 12, Plot 103/104, Monrovia Street, Wuse 2, Opposite Bon Hotel, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria.
Mrs. Oluwatuyi assured the public that the relocation will not disrupt the Fund’s operations.
“We wish to assure our stakeholders and the public that this move will not interrupt our services. NELFUND remains fully operational and committed to its mandate of providing affordable education loans and support to Nigerian students nationwide.”
