The Kogi State Government has commended Lugard TV for its vital role as a strategic media platform enhancing public engagement and promoting transparent communication of government programmes.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. (Mrs.) Folashade Ayoade Arike, gave the commendation at the official flag-off of Lugard TV’s month-long anniversary celebration held on Friday at the Mohammadu Buhari Civic centre, Lokoja.
The event began with a community outreach and a novelty football match between Team Ododo and Team Kogi All Stars, symbolizing unity and teamwork within the media and government circle.
In his address, Governor Ododo praised the Management and staff of LugardTV for their professionalism, innovation, and commitment to developmental journalism. He acknowledged the station’s growing influence, despite being under a year old.
“LugardTV has swiftly emerged as a key player in Kogi State’s media landscape. It is helping to shape positive narratives, highlight progress, and drive public enlightenment. We commend this effort and encourage the team to sustain their momentum,” the Governor said.
The Governor also lauded the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor Ismaila Isah, for his strategic leadership and dedication in positioning LugardTV as a trusted platform for public communication.
“LugardTV has become the voice of government, articulating our programmes and achievements with consistency and clarity. The station has our full support as it continues to grow,” he added.
In his remarks,Ismaila Isah emphasized the significance of the football match, which was inspired by Governor Ododo’s well-known love for sports.
“His Excellency is an avid football enthusiast. Including this friendly match between Team Ododo and Team Kogi All Stars allowed us to blend the celebration with relaxation. It’s also a reward for the hard work the media team has put in over the past year,” Isah said.
He reaffirmed LugardTV’s commitment to professionalism,Innovation and expanding its content reach to effectively communicate the administration’s policies and developmental efforts.
Mr. Isah also appreciated the dignitaries and officials who attended the flag-off ceremony and participated in the match, describing their support as encouraging and motivating.
During the match, players wore black armbands in solemn tribute to two recently bereaved public officials: Alhaji Yusuf Okala,father of the state Auditor General and late husband of the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation, Hajia Rabietu Okute.
LugardTV’s anniversary celebrations will continue with a lineup of events aimed at promoting civic engagement,media innovation and public enlightenment across Kogi state.
