The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Akinyemi Nafiu, has announced the Scheme’s commitment to deploying advanced ICT tools to strengthen its mobilization process.

General Nafiu made this known in his keynote address at the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Mobilization Workshop held in Abuja, themed “Strengthening the NYSC Mobilisation Process through Improved Technology and Collaboration with Stakeholders”.

According to a statement by Caroline Embu, Acting Director, Information and Public Relations, the NYSC DG stated that the Scheme would continue to train its mobilization officers in areas such as data verification, error resolution, emergency response, and cybersecurity, particularly for staff handling sensitive data.

He emphasized that these efforts are critical in the face of increasing threats and cyber attacks targeting the Scheme’s mobilization systems.

General Nafiu highlighted the need to reform the mobilization process to meet evolving societal demands, noting that technology, infrastructure development, and strategic partnerships are key to enhancing the efficiency and integrity of the system.

“We at NYSC recognize that by leveraging technology, forging stronger partnerships, investing in infrastructure, and deploying relevant skills, we can boost efficiency, enhance the experience of both prospective and serving Corps Members, and maintain the Scheme’s role in national development,” he said.

The DG urged Corps-producing institutions and other partners to accelerate their technological upgrades to ensure smoother collaboration.

“Let us not betray the trust of the nation. Let us jointly commit to prioritizing integrity over expediency, innovating for efficiency, and collaborating for national progress. With technology as our tool and collaboration as our compass, we will build a mobilization system that is secure, smart, and truly service-driven,” he added.

General Nafiu also acknowledged persistent challenges faced by the Scheme, including mismatched data from institutions, uploading of unqualified or part-time graduates, technical glitches, and attempted falsification of records.

Also speaking at the workshop, the Director of Corps Mobilization, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, noted that the event serves as a platform for the NYSC, Corps-producing institutions, and stakeholders to review and improve the mobilization process.

While commending the progress made through collaboration, Abubakar stressed the urgent need to curb fraudulent uploads of unqualified graduates.

“This process is vital for our nation’s growth but is fraught with challenges, especially dishonest enrollments. We must therefore stay alert and be proactive,” he warned.

He urged all participants to carry out their responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and accuracy in the uploading of data for prospective Corps members.
