The National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) says it will continue to drive innovations that would boost food security in Nigeria. NABDA Director General, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, gave the indication during a courtesy visit by the Islamic Green Club and Empowerment Initiative in Abuja.
Prof Mustapha who highlighted the agency’s commitment to the renewed hope agenda in the agriculture sector, emphasised the role of biotechnology in addressing hunger and malnutrition across the country.
Earlier in her remarks, the President of the Islamic Green Club and Empowerment Initiative Hajiya Bola Usman explained the clubs vision especially as it relates to climate change mitigation and promoting sustainable livelihoods through innovative agripreneurship.
Hajia Usman further added her voice to the controversies surrounding genetically modified organisms (GMOs) The delegation called for more support for NABDAand other research Organisations as part of efforts to bolster their efforts to secure Nigeria’s food future.
