Terrorism: DHQ Declares 9 Persons Wanted In North West
The Nigerian military says it has declared 9 persons wanted for terrorism and violent extremism in Northwest, Nigeria.
Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj Gen. Edward Buba who disclosed this at a briefing on Military operations across the Six geopolitical zones of the Country at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, said the persons are affiliated with jihadi factions in Mali and Niger.
He linked the suspects to the political instability in Mali and Niger, a development that also fueled the spread of extremist elements into the country.
Meanwhile, Gen. Buba confirmed that troops in various operations across the country in October 2024, neutralised 481 terrorists, arrested 741 suspects and rescued 492 kidnapped hostages.
He further gave a breakdown of the onslaughts across the theatres of operations.
The defence high command also harped on plans to establish a surrendering corridor to enable terrorists’ leaders, commanders and combatants surrender to the military.
