NAF Priorities Retirees’ Welfare, Lauds Pension Reform Act

The Nigerian Air Force says the welfare and livelihood of retirees is top on its priority.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal, Hassan Abubakar disclosed this in Abuja at a conference organised by Pension Correspondents Association of Nigeria, PENCAN with the theme, 20 years of Pension Reform Act: Gains, Challenges and Prospects.

Represented by the Director, Veterans Affairs, Air Vice Marshal, Chidi Obiabaka, the Air Chief said Pension Reform Act has not only improved the livelihood of retirees but has contributed significantly to the financial stability of both individuals and institutions.

Air Marshal Abubakar, while noting that it was through platforms like the PENCAN conference that they can map out future prospects and solutions to existing challenges in the pension system said the need for perfect retirement plan led the force to the establishment of Directorate of Veterans Affairs in the year 2022.

He however, commended PENCAN for bringing strategic stakeholders together annually to deepen conversation in the sector in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the reform.
