Police Deploys 35,000 Personnel For Edo Governorship Election.

Ahead of the September 21st Edo state Governorship election, the Nigeria Police Force has deployed 35,000 personnel to the state. Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun disclosed this at a stakeholders meeting held in Benin city, the Edo state capital.

The Police boss who hinted on efforts to ensure a hitch free poll, warned all potential troublemakers contemplating disruptive actions to abandon such intentions.

The IGP further said the police personnel will be complemented by another 8000 personnel from other security agencies and directed the suspension of other local security outfits in the state.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu in his remarks highlighted the various steps the commission had undertaken to ensure free fair and credible election in the state.

The INEC chairman said the commission in the next few days will publish the detailed breakdown of PVCs collected for each of the 4,519 Polling Units across the State.
