The Federal Government has disclosed plans to establish smart schools in the 36 states and the federal capital territory.
Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman gave the indication while taking a tour of the FCT Smart School in Karshi, together with the Minister of state Education, Dr Tanko Sununu.
Prof Mamman who stated that there are 26 smart schools in the country, with construction work ongoing in other states said the initiative is part of the legacy the present administration is committed to deliver to Nigerians.
The Minister also reacted to security concerns over the location of the FCT smart school in Karshi. On his part, the minister of State, Education, Hon. Tanko Sununu gave an update on the smart school initiative across the country.
The Smart School project was initiated and funded by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with Korea International Cooperation Agency, KOICA, to increase the capacity of teachers in the development and use of ICT content and to improve the access of teachers and pupils to quality teaching and learning materials.
