The National President of Vanguard for Transparent Leadership and Democracy VATLAD, Comrade Igbini Emmanuel Odafe has called on President Bola Tinubu to order security agencies to expose and prosecute the sponsors of Monday’s bomb explosion at the state headquarters of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Igbini questioned the rationale for the act, even at a time that Nigeria is in dire need for Foreign Earnings from Production and Export of Petroleum and Natural Gas from Rivers and the Rich Petroleum Producing States of Niger Delta.
According to him, this is one bomb explosion and attack too many in the City of Port Harcourt since late last year following the political disagreement between Governor Fubara and his Predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
He expressed sadness that the Inspector General of Police was yet to expose and bring to Justice, the sponsors of these dastardly acts that can be rightly described as Terrorism hence embolding this latest bomb attack and God forbids, may be more to come if drastic action is not taken against the sponsors, no matter their privileged positions in Society.
“From the narratives so far from Commentators, this latest bomb attack on the Rivers State Secretariat of Action People’s Party (APP) like others before it at other places of the City,
is without any iota of doubt, politically motivated in view of the yet-to-be resolved political disagreement between Governor Fubara and former Governor Wike. But what is still in doubt is who are the sponsors and what their ultimate objective is.
“It is this doubt that Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police has the Constitutional Duty to clear and resolve in order to reassure the people of the State and the many International Oil Companies (IOCs) and other Multinational and Nigerian Companies and Businesses operating in the State, of Security of their Lives, Properties and Businesses.
Igbini said Rivers State being a leading Economic Treasure Base of Nigeria as result of its huge Petroleum Producing Fields and hosting the largest number of these Petroleum and Gas Producing and Exporting Companies, cannot and must not be allowed to descend into a state of anarchy because of the selfish political interest of any person or group of persons.
According to the activist, the Peace, Unity, Progress and Security in the Niger Delta States must be of paramount importance to President Tinubu and the National Assembly.
“While we wait for action to be taken on this matter by President Tinubu, we appeal to Governor Fubara, being the Chief Security Officer of the State, to continue to appeal for calm and to encourage Rivers People to be very vigilant and report suspicious movements in and around the State.
“All Leaders and members of Political Parties in Rivers State must go about their preparations for the forthcoming Local Government Election in Peaceful and Lawful manner and allow the will of majority of eligible voters to prevail and ultimately determine who lead them at the Local Government Councils after the Election slated for October this year
