As part of effort to check the spate of rape incidences in the most populous black nation in the world, the Nigerian Senate has agreed to come up with a new legislation that will recommend stiffer penalty to include death sentences for rapist. The decision was reached after the lawmaker representing Cross River North in the upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Rose Oko raised the concern under order 42 of the senate rule. She said, if action is not urgently taken, Nigeria would become a failed nation as its subjects lost their sense of responsibility as a result of rape abuses.
