The Chairman, Governing Council of the National Open University of Nigeria, (NOUN), Mallam Isa Yuguda has assured of non interference of the council in the daily administration of the institution.
The Former Governor of Bauchi state gave the indication at the maiden meeting of the Council with the University management in Abuja.
Yuguda who promised to initiate policies that will transform the university among the best in the world said the council would work strictly within its mandate as enshrined in the laws of the institution.
The former Governor who was also quick to identify the challenges of funding as it affects the operations of tertiary institutions also assured of efforts by the council to explore various opportunities to bridge the gap.
Responding, the vice Chancellor of NOUN, Prof Olufemi Peters welcomed the Council and assured them of cordial working environment.
The highpoint of the inaugural interaction between the council and management of NOUN was a tour of some projects and facilities in the Institution.
