Worried by the learning crisis in the nations basic school system and it’s desire to change the narrative, the Universal Basic Education (UBEC) has launched the Effective Schools Program(ESP), across 111 schools in Nigeria.
The initiative UBEC indicates aims to assess the effectiveness of minimum standards in Universal education delivery across 111 schools in the next six years.
At a one-day strategic meeting in Abuja, with State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Coordinating Directors and Head Teachers of UBE Effective Schools, the IBEC Executive Secretary, Dr Hamid Bobboyi, represented by Prof Bala Zakari, said the objective is to Improve the resources and routines of teaching and learning, thereby optimizing the potentials of both teachers and learners within the school system.
The UBEC boss further outlined the ESP evolution starting with the establishments of smart schools in each state capital.
The ESP is expected to improve learning outcomes at the basic school, with products from the system equipped with life skills for the 21st century.
