The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Manhood Yakubu has advised State Independent Electoral Commissions (SIECs), against coronation of candidates in local council elections.
Prof Yakubu gave the charge when the Executive members of the Forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions ((FOSIECOM),visited the Commissions headquarters in Abuja The INEC boss challenged the SIEC’s to conduct proper elections, with caution on the part of state Governors for independence.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions ((FOSIECOM), Bar. Jossy Eze said the visit was to further strengthen ties with INEC.
States Independent Electoral Commission were created in 2016 to foster partnership for credible elections in Nigeria.
