Ministry of Interior, ICPC Consider Deployment Of Hi-Tech To Fight Corruption

Nigeria’s Ministry of Interior is partnering with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to tackle corruption in its Ministry, Department and Agencies

In a statement signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations Department, Ozoya Imohimi and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA said Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, stressed need to urgently address corruption which is seen as a major threat to the nation’s security.

According to the statement, the strategic partnership was consummated when the Minister, Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako and some top officials of
the ministry and its agencies paid a courtesy visit to the ICPC Headquarters in Abuja.

The statement said Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasised on the need for proactive measures to combat corruption by focusing more on detection and prevention strategies.

The Minister who was quick to recognise the critical role of capacity building highlighted need for equal knowledge transfer with the ICPC for the overall benefit of the country.

While acknowledging the vital role of the Ministry, the Chairman, ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, emphasised need for the deployment of technology in anti-corruption efforts.
