Arraignment Of Binance Executive Stalled

The arraignment of Tigran Gambaryan, an official of Binance Holdings Limited was stalled at the Abuja federal high court.

Gambaryan and fleeing Nadeem Anjarwalla both executives of.Binance are charged by the EFCC on five counts-charge bordering on money laundering and foreign exchange contravention to the tune of $35.4 million.

Gambaryan was ushered into the court by heavily armed operatives of the EFCC before justice Emeka Nwite.

His lawyer, Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN told Justice Nwite that his client cannot be arraigned because he has not been served with the FIRS charges.

However, the FIRS counsel, Moses Idem opted to serve him in open court on the grounds that the bailiff of the court has been unable to effect service.

Idam urged the court to give the Binance executive time to liaise with his lawyer in respect of the charges and equally called for an adjournment.

The Binance executive’s lawyer did not object to the call for adjournment

The matter was adjourned to April 19 for arraignment.

It would be recalled that
Binance in the suit was accused of failing to register with the Federal Inland Revenue Service for the purpose of paying all relevant taxes administered by the service.

The FIRS also alleged that while it was offering taxable services to subscribers on its trading platform, the company failed to issue invoices to those subscribers for the purposes of determining and payment of its value-added taxes.
