IGP Assures Of Commitment To Safe School Initiative.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has assured that the safety of schools and educational establishments remains a top priority for the Nigeria Police Force.

The IGP said this at the flagged off of the training and sensitization of state coordinators and divisional Police officers of the Nigeria Police Force on school protection and the commissioning of platforms, vehicles, and equipment at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

He said the Police is steadfast in its efforts to implement strategies as well as mobilise resources to counter threats facing students in the Country.

The Police Boss also disclosed that the training programme aims to equip state coordinators and divisional police officers from all 36 states and the FCT with comprehensive knowledge of the police’s role in the National Plan for Safe Schools in Nigeria.

On her part, National Coordinator, Finance, Safe Schools, Halima Iliya,said the safe school national plan comprises of relevant stakeholders with specific inputs to make the initiative a success.

Other speakers in their thoughts assured of collaboration that would entrench safer schools in Nigeria.

Recall that the IGP on July 31, 2023, launched the formation of the schools protection squad with mandate to protect the nations school system.
