Nigeria’s population has been estimated to hit 400 million by 2050. This analysis is contained in the 2024 Citizen Perception Survey Report unveiled at the Nigerian Population Conversation Seminar organised by Cislac in collaboration with Population matters in Abuja.
Describing the impact of the survey especially as it affects the rising profile of the nations population as a demographic nightmare, the Executive Director, Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, Auwal Rafsanjani express worry that Nigeria is yet to harnessed it’s population to achieve development goals, a factor responsible for youth unemployment, insecurity and other related challenges.
Other speakers in their remarks called for a conversation that will spur Nigerians to embrace the idea of smaller family.
