Analysis from the latest Corruption Perception Index,CPI indicates that Nigeria has shown progress in the global fight against corruption.

Presenting the report in Abuja, CISLAC Executive Director Auwal Musa Rafsanjani said Nigeria despite falling below the sub-Saharan African average of 33 points, ascended five places to secure the 145th position out of 180 nations accessed.

Commending the various anti corruption agencies for the feat, Rafsanjani however clarified that the CPI is not an evaluation of their efforts but an overall indicator of the nation’s progress in the anti-corruption drive.

As expected, the briefing was attended by development partners who in their thoughts highlighted key weaknesses in some sectors that needs improvement.

This is the first CPI under President Bola Tinubu’ Administration which observers believe will be used as a benchmark for subsequent years.
