The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has solicited the support of the Nigerian Air Force in airlifting sensitive election materials for the February 3 rerun and bye -elections.
Prof. Yakubu disclosed this during a visit to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar at the Naval headquarters in Abuja.
Yakubu who noted the challenges faced by the Commission in deployment of election materials especially to locations with difficult terrain said the synergy with the Air force will ensure a seamless process.
Responding, the chief of Air staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar said the air force has always been a dependable partner with INEC in the area of election security and deployment of sensitive and non sensitive materials across the country.
The meeting is part of engagement by INEC for a hitch-free off cycle elections scheduled for Saturday February 3rd in some locations across the country.
