President Bola Tinubu has approved over 683 billion naira as the 2024 Intervention Funds for public tertiary education institutions in the country.
The Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Arch Sonny Echono, disclosed this at the Strategic planning meeting with heads of beneficiary institutions held at the Funds office in Abuja.
Echono who indicated that the figure represents a significant increase as compared to the 2023 intervention cycle, announced modalities for disbursement to benefiting institutions.
The TETFund boss however tasked the institutions on judicious utilization of the funds, saying to whom much is given,much is expected.
Meanwhile, the acting permanent secretary, federal ministry of education, Zubairu Abdullahi and other heads of agencies applauded the gesture and urged the institutions to redouble efforts to achieve President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda for the education sector.
It would be recalled that each universities in the 2023 intervention cycle got over 1 billion naira, with the polytechnics and colleges of education receiving over 699 million naira and about 800 million naira respectively.
