The Federal Government has inaugurated an Inter ministerial committee to tackle the menace of fake degrees in the Country.
The Minister of Education Prof. Tahir Mamman while inaugurating the Committee in Abuja, said the gesture is line with President Tinubu’s resolved to give priority to Education by ensuring that only genuine and quality certificates that meet Global standard is accepted in the country.
Prof Tahir said the committees is expected to examine the veracity of the allegations of degree certificate racketeering within both foreign and local private universities in Nigeria among other terms of reference.
The minister further disclosed plans to initiate reforms to sanitise the nations tertiary institutions sub sector.
The six member inter ministerial committee is chaired by Prof. Jubrila Amin with representatives from the office of the National Security Adviser, ministry of Foreign Affairs, JAMB and NUC.
The committee has a mandate of 2 months to submit it’s report.
