The Independent National Electoral Commission has finalised plans to conduct nationwide rerun and by-elections in February 2024 .
The Chairman, INEC Prof. Mahmood Yakubu who disclosed this at a meeting with leaders of political parties at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja said there is a court order for the electoral umpire to conduct polls in eleven Federal and twenty two State constituencies.
He said INEC will also conduct by-elections to fill vacancies created as a result of resignation or death of members of the National and States Assemblies.
The INEC boss further noted that an authentic date for the election and a comprehensive timetable will be released at the end of the meeting with party leaders.
