ASUU Seeks Independent Budget For TETFUND.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has made case for independent 2024 budget for the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund. ASUU President, Prof Emmanuel Osodoke, made the call at the TETFund Alliance for Innovative Research, TETFAIR, Showcase and Closing Event held in Abuja.
Osodeke who frowned at the decision of the present administration to add TETFund budget to the national budget raised concerns on the implication of the action especially as it relates to effective implementation of the Funds mandate.
The fair was attended by the minister of Labour Simon Lalong, who in his remarks described the occasion as a celebration of the remarkable innovative achievements over the year, saying the scheme serves as a platform for researchers and innovators to showcase their groundbreaking ideas.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc Sonny Echono, said the fair was organised to support researchers in universities to bring their innovative ideas to fruition.
TETFAIR is a year-long programme which provides a unique opportunity for academics and researchers in Nigerian Universities to transform their ideas into market-driven solutions, including the development and fabrication of prototypes.
