NIS Warns New Officers Against Sharp Practice, Corruption
The Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Caroline Adepoju has said the service has zero tolerance to any sharp practice that will undermine the effort of the Service reforms on operational effectiveness and efficiency.
CGI Adepoju who stated this at the presidential commissioning and passing out parade of the 48th Superintendent basic course at the Immigration Service training School, Kano, urge them to shun all forms of misdemeanor and corruption as the core mandate of the Service is border security.
She also urge them to strike a balance between ethics and professionalism in the use of the power at their disposal while dealing with citizens, vulnerable and non vulnerable migrants niting that citizenship integrity is part of the NIS mandate.
“I enjoin you to adhere to the NIS Act, NIS Manual and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Standards” Adeboju Said.
While Congratulating the 48th Superintendent basic course, the NIS boss expressed optimism that the Cadets have passed through the expected rigours of paramilitary training that instill sense of discipline and commitment to duty.
“The Service and the School will be proud of you for the legacy project you put in ground, this will enormously assist government effort to provide infrastructural facilities particularly in training institution” She added.
The CG further expressed delight with the cadets performance, noting that it serves as a mark of the emphasis placed on training and retraining of the service personnel in line with global best practices.
She disclosed that “the Service has map out a plan that gives training institution the consideration to attend capacity building training and courses to broden their skill and knowledge as part of our commitment to ensure a better sense of direction for the service by making it responsive to the global migration dynamism and World Security trends.
The Immigration boss also applauded the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo
disposition and sterling way it handling the affairs of the ministry since his assumption to office, noting that he has provided an enabling environment and policies that accelerates the Service efficiency in the discharge of its duties.
