AFRPN Condemns Niger Coup, Calls For Cooperation Among African Nations
The need for Nigeria and the African Continent, to demonstrate exemplary leadership by nurturing and deepening its internal democracy and assist less powerful countries to maintain their democracy, has once again been emphasised.
Former President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, made the call visually at the 5th annual Conference of Association of Foreign Relations Professionals of Nigeria in Abuja. He noted that, the concept of democratic governance should be made a national interest, as well as strengthening of foreign policy. Chairman of the occasion, Former Commonwealth Secretary General Minister, Emeka Anyaoku, condemned the Coup D’etat in Niger Republic.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, stressed need for Nigeria to have a strong foreign policy.
The theme for the 2023 AFRPN Annual Conference is ” Examining the Nexus Between Foreign Policy Goals and Democratic Governance”.
