2023 Polls: EU Backs Realtime Transmission Of Election Results.

The 2023 general elections may have come and gone with winners already declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

However, the outcome is still subject to litigations going by the number of cases at various tribunals.

The European Union Election Observation mission and other groups that monitored the elections have made public their findings and recommendations.

At a news conference in Abuja to present it’s final report and recommendations on the recently conducted general elections, the Chief Observer of the EU Observation Mission, Barry Andrew called for a more transparent process for declaring election results in Nigeria.

Other issues related to improving the integrity of the nations electoral process was captured in the report with key emphasis on greater women participation Responding to some of the findings in the Eu report, INEC National Commissioner Festus Okoye reassured Nigerians of the commitment of the electoral body to reform’s that will add value to the nations democracy.

It is expected that INEC will build on the recommendations of the EU and other Groups to further improved the conduct of elections in Nigeria, starting with the Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi Governorship polls slated for November 2023.
