PenCom, PFAs To Integrate 49m Artisans, Traders Into Micro Pension Scheme

It was a gathering of Stakeholders in the pension sector of the economy to deliberate on how to bringing in about forty nine million Nigerians in the informal sector to participate in the Micro Pension Plan of the Federal Government.

The maiden conference organised in Abuja by journalists that report the sector under the aegis, Pension Correspondents Association of Nigeria, PENCAN was to ensure that the awareness of the scheme gains penetration and acceptance by artisans and traders across the country.

The Director General, National Pension Commission, Aisha Dahir-Umar, represented by an Assistant Manager in the Commission, Ibrahim Buwai said the conference was apt in the face of the current economic situation.

Some stakeholders who took turns to speak on the significance of the scheme to the informal sector, commended the Association for the wonderful initiative, and called for quick acceptability of the scheme. The President, Pension Correspondents Association of Nigeria, Nana Musa earlier, said media as agenda setter will continue to hold stakeholders in the sector account for the overall benefit of the country. The theme of the conference is “Micro Pension In a Digitised Economy: Prospects and Challenges”.
