Katagum Signs Out With Women Empowerment

Women capacity building and support towards self reliance has been one of the major focus of the immediate past Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Industrial, Trade and Investment, Mariam Katagum.

To this end, the Minister as part of her mandates to promoting entrepreneurship for the economic development of Women Vendors in the Federal Capital Territory, provided them with vending literacy for using some level of technology and innovation including the use of safe and clean energy, to enhance their service.

Speaking at the landmark occasion, Ambassador Katagum said the support was for selected women food vendors from different organizations and indigent individuals with competence and capacity to manage food vending within the FCT, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals-SDGs as well as Climate Change adoption.

Ambassador Katagum also enjoined them to key into the latest women international Day THEME “Digit All” to improve their businesses as the world is moving faster than expected and the monitory policy has come to stay to the advantage of only those who are ready.

She however, noted that a Unit in the ministry is in the process of preparing a Strategy Policy Document on Gender Initiatives and Ease of Doing Business in the Industry, Trade and Investment Sector, adding that women need technology and innovation to advance them a bit towards their technological journey.

Some beneficiaries also spoke on the significance of the occasion.

About one hundred and twenty women food vendors in the FCT were empowered.
