As the intrigues into who emerges as leaders of the 10th assembly continues,a group under the aegis of Democratic Watch Initiative (DWI) has kicked against plans of imposition by the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, urging the president elect, Bola Tinubu to allow a free election.
National Coordinator of DWI Dr Sunusi Umar who made the call at a press conference in Abuja, said allowing both chambers of the National Assembly to pick their leaders will put an end the already brewing concerns of marginalization and fear of dominance of other geopolitical zones in the north by others.
The Group restated faith in the experience of the president elect to cope with whatever National Assembly leadership that may emerge through Democratic process.
Dr Umar further warned the president elect against selfish agendas that may ridicule his good intentions for the country.
They expressed their convictions that only a leadership of the National assembly independently elected can douse the rising regional tensions and foster strong understanding among the elected members.
