2023 WPFD: CSO Tasks FG on Protection, Safety of Journalists.
A Civil Society Organisation under the aegis of the National Association of Seadogs and the Nigerian Union of Journalist have called on the Incoming administration to take concrete steps to protect the safety and rights of journalists.
The Public Relations Officer, National Association of Seadogs, Barr Charles Ndukwe who made the call at a joint press conference in Abuja to commemorate the 2023 World Press Freedom day demanded the prosecution of person’s responsible for attacks against journalists.
He lamented over the challenges in the journalism profession in Nigeria and called on the government to do the needful.
In his remarks the Chairman NUJ, FCT Chapter, Emmanuel Ogbeche added his voice to to calls on the incoming administration to review laws that criminalize journalist activities.
The theme of this year’s World Press Freedom day is “Shaping a Future of Rights: Freedom of Expression as a driver of all other rights”,
