Nigeria has exported Raw Cashew Nuts worth 252million US Dollars which accounts for 5.2% of the nations non oil export portfolio in 2022.
The Executive Director, Nigerian Export Promotion Council, NEPC Ezra Yakusak who disclosed this at the flag off of the organic cashew certification programme in Abuja emphasized the need to encourage organic production of of the cash crop for better harnessing of its potentials.
Also,the NEPC boss added that the project seeks to discourage the export of raw cashew and other products for the growth and development of the country through the non oil export sector.
Other partners collaborating with the NEPC in the Organic Cashew certification programme express optimism that the project will produce the desired result in increasing satisfied raw cashew nuts as well as generate revenue for the country.
While Nigeria continue to boost it’s potentials in cashew production, Vietnam and China currently rank among the top nations in global cashew export.
