President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the Sum of over three hundred and twenty billion naira as the 2023 intervention funds for public tertiary education institutions in the country.
The Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Arch Sonny Echono who disclosed this at the Annual Strategic Planning Workshop for heads of beneficiary institutions at the TetFund headquarters in Abuja stated that the amount represents the highest disbursement to each beneficiary institution since the inception of the Fund.
The TETFund boss who noted that said the fortunes of the Nigerian tertiary education sector has improved significantly under the Buhari’s administration, gave a breakdown of the disbursement to the benefiting institutions.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, David Adejo commended the federal government gesture and urged the beneficiary institutions to make judicious use of the Fund.
Other stakeholders in the Education sector aired their opinions on the disbursement guideline.
It would be recalled that over #1.7 trillion has been disbursed as education tax collection to the nations public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
