As the 2023 general election gradually winds down, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC indicated plans to take drastic measures against proven irregularities.
This is as the Commission vowed to ensure that allegations of voter inducement, harassment and manipulation of results on the Governorship and State Assembly would be reviewed and addressed.
National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee Bar Festus Okoye disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja.
Okoye who reviewed some of the highlights of the March 18th election, condemned the invasion of its Obingwa Local government office in Abia state by thugs saying the incident will be thoroughly reviewed.
Okoye who blamed political actors for acts aimed at undermining the integrity of the election however commended INECs response to some of the flaws that characterized the February 25 poll.
The Commission appreciated the patience and will of Nigerians and restated it’s commitment to consolidate on the progress made so far in the electoral process.
